Omaka Marae has a number of buildings/meeting rooms available for hire. These facilities can be booked for half days, full days, and overnight. To obtain a quote for hiring the following facilities go to the bookings page on this website.

Whare nui | Meeting House
  • Beautiful carved meeting house featuring carvings, tukutuku panels (weaved panels) and a contemporary mural
  • Attached bathrooms with extra ablution blocks located outside for larger groups
Key Functions Suited To:
  • Ideal environment for hui (meetings), wananga, workshops, events, or overnight stays (we supply mattresses/pillows/linen)
  • Capacity: Seats up to 150 people. Sleeps up to 60 people

Whare kai | Dining Room
  • Dining room area
  • Trestle tables and chairs
  • Bi-folding doors open to outdoor deck area with a shade sail

  • Dining, events
  • Capacity: Seats up to 100 people for a sit down meal

Kauta | Kitchen
  • Licensed commercial kitchen
  • Large kitchen area with plenty of bench space

  • Capacity: Suitable to cater for groups up to 100 people
  • Available to businesses for commercial hire
Blue Room | Lounge
  • Lounge area with comfortable couches and chairs
  • Tea and coffee facilities included

Powhiri | Welcome Ceremony
Every group that hires the facilities, and brings new people onto the marae for the first time, must be officially welcomed onto the marae in a powhiri (welcome) ceremony.
